Choosing the Correct Width of Bra Strap ElasticBra strap elastic is available in 4 widths, 3/8”, 1/2”, 5/8”, and 3/4”. The 5/8” and 3/4” are more comfortable for women with larger bust lines, as they give more support to the upper cup area of the bra. As a rough guideline, A and B cups would use 3/8”, C cups 1/2” , D and DD cups 5/8”, and F and above 3/4” bra strap elastic. Experimentation with the different sizes will tell you which is best for you. Once you have chosen your elastic , make sure to choose the matching size in strap adjusters, also known as bra sliders & rings, or 8’s and O’s. If they are not the same size as the bra strap, they will either make the strap too tight to adjust, or it will slip out of adjustment!

Cut your straps to the correct length ( as per the pattern you are using, or your personal measurement) Holding the shiny side of the strap up, push it up through one side of the slider ( 8) then down over the middle bar. Thread through enough strap so that the end can be stitched.

Stitch the end to the strap using a small to medium zigzag stitch.

Slide the ring over the unstitched end.

Now, holding the shiny side of the strap up, loop the strap back through the slider, up over the bar, and back down again.

Hold the ring in one hand, and pull down the unstitched edge of the elastic .

You have now completed your strap adjustment!
